Something old.. something new..
I read in the past that the 'something old' was suppose to be a token that belonged to a happily married women worn by the bride, so that she too, could have a happy marriage.
When I think about it, the idea is really sweet. Especially in Rheba's case. Rheba came in with a slightly outdated, but sentimental, heart shape diamonds pendant that she never wore. It had been given to her by a relative. She hoped to use these diamonds in her wedding band. The stones taken from the pendant were actually cut in an older diamond cutting style called single cuts, which has fewer facets then the usual round stones that you see frequently today. They really add to the nice, vintage appeal, that her finished wedding band had. It is quite the ring, filled with strong symbolism and heritage. A token taken from a heart shaped pendant that your grandmother once happily wore and then set into a ring that represents union and family. Makes me think that it might be something that becomes a bit of an heirloom later on.
